### What is the stamp duty on a rent agreement in Hyderabad?

### Is registration compulsory for an 11-month agreement?

Registration is not compulsory for leases of 11 months or less, so many Hyderabad agreements are only stamped. Leases of 12 months or more need to be registered.

E-stamp is widely used and can be verified online. Stamp duty must be paid before or when the agreement is signed, because an unstamped agreement may not be accepted as proof.
